Hi there, thanks for stopping by! I’m Kristen McNicholas, also known as KEM, KM and KMc.

A little about me before the business: I’m a bookworm, home baker, my animal guide would be a squirrel and you can also ask me about my robust baseball hat collection. I proudly hail from the Finger Lakes region in New York (where the wine is from).

I’m currently teaching in the School of Photographic Arts and Sciences at the Rochester Institute of Technology (my alma mater), as well as available for independent photography editing and consulting. My clients have included Vox Creative (Thrillist, Eater, PopSugar, The Cut, The Dodo), Blink.la, AskNature, uDiscover Music (Universal Music) and some incredible photographers.

I’ve worked as a Photo Editor at Newsweek and Discovery, a Photo Producer at UPI, and as Associate Photo Editor at National Geographic with the Your Shot photo community. I interned at Education Week and at the White House Photo Office during the Obama Administration.

I’ve juried for the NPPA Quarterly Picture Editing Contest, the Envision Kindness photo contest and American Forest’s Forests in Focus photo contest. I’m happily apart of the Kalish Picture Editing Workshop family and previously curated the Glen Echo Photoworks youth photo exhibition.
