Kristen McNicholas is an Associate Photo Editor with the National Geographic YourShot team. She graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology, where she studied photojournalism. Kristen is a former Picture Editing Intern with Education Week, after she interned at the White House Photo Office during the summer of 2016.

In 2016 Kristen completed her senior capstone project, a book of photographs by Pulitzer-prize winner Greg Marinovich documenting South Africa during the end of apartheid through the 2000's. Jordan Roth and Kristen were co-gallery managers for our Senior Capstone gallery exhibition: In(ter)depence. She was a contributing editor of A Visual Year, a website of the best work of 2015 by RIT Photojournalism students. 

She also served as the Photo Editor of the award winning, student-run magazine, Reporter, and the Treasurer for the RIT NPPA Chapter. Kristen won Best Picture Editing Portfolio at the RIT NPPA What We Do photojournalism contest that allowed her to attend the Kalish Picture Editing Workshop in June 2016.

She also loves squirrels, doughnuts, and cat videos.
